The actual starting date of Your Computer Lady is a little vague. I’ve always said 1996 but who knows what day George had his entrepreneurial seizure as brainstorms are called in The E Myth Revisited. It’s the right year. August 9th was George’s birthday so … it works for me!
Pamela Bir is the President and owner of Your Computer Lady. My career in computers didn’t begin auspiciously. My husband and a partner decided to start a manufacturing firm. With no budget, of course. So I was drafted to create the letterhead, the technical literature and the marketing pieces. About the time I finished all of it, the company was bought by a larger firm. They asked me to do everything over with their name and logo. About the time I finished all of it, the company was bought by a larger firm. And you guessed it! They asked me to do everything over with their name and logo. Luckily, by this time, other people had seen my work and asked me to do projects for them. That was good since I was losing my mind doing the same boring technical data sheets for the third time! I continued doing support work for George also.
There was enough work that I couldn’t get everything done quickly. George came up with the idea of looking for independent contractors. He ran an ad in the Ahwatukee News, a neighborhood paper, looking for help. The response was great. I met people who had excellent computer skills but didn’t want a full-time job. Some were stay-at-home moms. Some were stay-at-home dads. Some were small business owners who hated marketing themselves. I would meet with the client, prep the project, discuss it with the contractor who would complete the work. I was in charge of quality control.
Much of our original work was in the construction industry, but we quickly expanded to other industries. As needs arose, we learned new technologies so we could build and maintain websites, set up email marketing campaigns or make social media posts.
Today our services are not limited by industry or technology. In fact, there are very few limitations to our projects.
- Any industry
- A wide range of software
- Large projects or small ones
- One time jobs or on-going projects
We strive very hard to make each client into a life-time client. We want you to come back to us time after time for all of your software support needs.
We miss you, George!
Your Computer Lady was started by a man. Originally pBg Associates was a consulting firm that specialized in roofing and waterproofing projects. George had 35+ years of experience in the industry with companies such as Upjohn, United Coatings and Radco/Synergetics. He was active in many professional organizations including Construction Specifications Institute and The Reference Library. He knew everyone! I was his assistant who also did some projects of my own along with his work. George developed Pulmonary Fibrosis and passed away in May, 2001. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss his laugh and those great big hugs.
