Client Name:  Cornerstone Cabinet Company

Client Since: 2016

Goals:  Increase the number of leads for the expanding installation portion of the business

Challenges:  Create a series of ads with different key points

Social media portfolioSolutions:  Cornerstone Cabinet Company is expanding its installation business. To help with lead generation, YCL worked with owner, Chris Boulton, to create a series of ads to post on Facebook’s Marketplace.

  • Include different aspects of installation, remodeling and custom cabinets.
  • Include different key cities
  • Include different price points
  • Post on a weekly basis in order to stay high on the search results page
  • Stay on budget with Facebook’s changing ad impressions

The ads created brought in 75 new leads in 4 months which resulted in 4 closed deals which covered the cost of the ad campaign and made a profit!

Developed & Trained Staying Alive on New Social Media Process

To better promote Staying Alive’s classes (CPR & First Aid as well as Pet First Aid) Your Computer Lady worked with Deanna to develop a simple process she could do herself.

  1. Add the class on her website’s online calendar with online registration links.
  2. Add the class on her Facebook business page so it was searchable for prospective students. The list is also impressive for people researching Staying Alive.
  3. Schedule 2 posts for each class via her Constant Contact account. Yes, CtCt lets you schedule social media posts!  One post 2 weeks before the class. One post 1 week before the class. You can copy each post and re-use it for the next class. So once you have your wording perfected, you do the perfect post every time.

Often, for a solopreneur, having someone to help you think through a process makes the world of difference. When the person is familiar with the software and tools you’re utilizing, you get a simple, clean process you can follow over and over for prime results.

Check out the Class Schedule!

Cornerstone Cabinet Company

We are very proud that Cornerstone Cabinet Company has been a YCL client since 2015!

Web Site
Beautiful custom cabinets deserve a beautiful custom web site to show them off!  The primary goal of the Cornerstone web site is to display the wonderful photos the company has of completed projects. YCL created portfolios by room and also by project to better fit the visitors’ needs.  In addition, Cornerstone wanted to “brag” about the high quality manufacturers they work with. YCL developed pages for each manufacturer with photos, information and links to the manufacturers’ sites where necessary.

Social Media
There’s a lot to learn about cabinets! Owner, Chris Boulton, had written a series of articles titled Cabinets 101.  YCL adds to that knowledge base with articles about new counter-top surfaces, current trends in cabinets, colors, lighting and even cabinet “jewelry!”

Email Marketing
A monthly email gets Cornerstone’s name in front of prospects to encourage purchase decisions. It also keeps Cornerstone top of mind with clients, designers and vendors who can give referrals.

A Technology Parable

A new client came to YCL for marketing support. The tax preparation company was a little over a year old.

First, the website! The hub of all marketing efforts. The client uses a proprietary site built for people in her specific industry. They offer industry-related tools. They offer a high level of security which is certainly needed. In this case, a proprietary site is her best option. Creating a WordPress site would be too costly with all of the special features.

The site did need some work to expand the content. The two of us went over the site page by page. I suggested some changes and new content as a non-industry person to help her explain what she does to prospects. The updates were done in November well before the start of tax season. As referrals started coming and leads came in from her marketing, the site was ready to convert prospects to clients. And it was ready to be a big resource for clients.

Managing Tasks – Every client is different and has different requirements. Some clients need tax extensions. So she needed a way to keep track of all the various tasks for all the tax filings. I suggested ToDoIst. It’s an online software that is cost-effective and user friendly. She started using it in December to learn the in’s and out’s. Over the course of the next few months when her business more than doubled from the previous year, she was able to juggle all of the balls in the air!

We used email marketing to remind past clients of how knowledgeable she is so they would return for this year’s tax filing. The same messages convinced prospects that she was the right person to work with. We used the email articles as social media posts and blog posts too. One effort was used three ways! That’s time efficient! We started the eNewsletter in December also. It takes seven “touches” on average to turn a prospect into a client. We used the emails as touches to move the prospects through the sales funnel.

The Moral of this Story

By building her technology and marketing foundation before the season started, this tax preparer was able to more than double her business and focus on doing what she does best – tax returns – while her marketing engine continued to drive the clients to her. And she didn’t have to burn the midnight oil even once!

Call or email today so we can get started on making the best plan for your business!

Printwerx Social Media Marketing

PrintwerxIn the 2+ years, Alice Woodard, owner of Printwerx has worked with YCL for social media, we have worked out a sweet system!  Once a month, we meet to finalize the pieces of info for the current month’s marketing: 2 emails, 4-8 social media posts on the blog, Facebook and Instagram.

Alice uses her insider knowledge to find the products to talk about and the articles to best educate her clients. YCL pulls all the pieces together in the right format for each platform. After Alice approves the draft, the posts are made, the emails are sent. Alice then gets reports showing her the results of the campaign.

At the monthly meeting, we also talk about ideas for the next 2-3 months. This gives Alice thinking time. She can find the best articles, not the ones she locates in 15 minutes before the deadline. She may have second thoughts and change a topic for a better one. Deadlines don’t compromise quality. If she finds an interesting article on a new topic, we add it to the Marketing Calendar to consider at the next meeting. Good ideas don’t get lost!

Barbara’s Picks – Update!

Barbara KaplanNeither Barbara nor I will admit to how many years we’ve been working together! Let’s just say more than 10.

The work has changed over time as Barbara’s businesses and especially Barbara’s Picks have evolved.  Currently, YCL does:

  • Email marketing to a 4000+ consumer email list
  • Social media posting on 4 Facebook pages, Instagram, Google, LinkedIn.
    • YCL gathers info about the Barbara’s Picks members, drafts the posts and makes them on the appropriate platforms.
    • YCL works with Barbara to promote her appearances on radio, TV and podcasts.
  • Website maintenance and blog posts.

All of our efforts are measured to help Barbara see which marketing is having the most impact.

Barbara has a great talent and love for educating the homeowner about the importance of making interior design about the person as well as the physical room.  “Rooms have no feelings, You do!”  We use her articles on all social platforms to help homeowners “Live With What You Love.”

Cornerstone Cabinet Company – Update!

Cornerstone Cabinet CompanyYCL has been doing social media posting for Cornerstone since 2015.  We coordinate their blog posts, with their email marketing campaign and with their social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google My Business.  Owner, Chris Boulton, understands the value of photography so he has professional photos taken of projects that we can use with all aspects of the marketing campaign. The pictures with Chris’ explanation of the project builds confidence in prospects’ to help them choose to work with Cornerstone Cabinet Company. Using photos and information multiple ways in multiple places makes the marketing work effective as well as productive!

A Special Kind of Clean Up

marketing consulting

A client recently contacted me about doing more social media posting.  First step was to see which platforms she had set up and what had been done so far.

Come to find out, there were:

2 Gmail accounts
                 1 with a business page
                 1 with a YouTube channel
1 Yahoo
2 Instagram accounts
3 YouTube channels
No clue what emails 2 of them went to
1 Twitter account she didn’t need
2 Facebook business page
1 MailChimp account

Before we could get to work, the client had to reset all of the passwords because she didn’t have a good list of Usernames and Passwords.  THIS INFO IS CRITICAL TO YOUR BUSINESS! Use LastPass or another password keeper to record all usernames, passwords, PIN#, security questions. (Another client couldn’t access one of her accounts because she couldn’t remember if the answer to the security question was farmer, Farmer or cotton farmer.  Capitalization counts in passwords and security answers!!)

We went to each account and reviewed the info. Every profile had different information! There was no consistency in the services she said she was offering, the descriptions of the services or even the way she had input the company name!  This is very detrimental to your marketing efforts.  Branding 101 requires that you use the same company name every time, every where. Then to increase your Search Engine Optimization you need to use the same keywords to list your services and to describe them.

Keywords
Keep a list of your keywords by your computer. Everything you write for your website, your social media, your eNewsletters, etc. should use these words. Why?  Keywords are what your clients use to search for your services on Google, on Facebook, on Instagram.  If you are sloppy with your keywords, they can’t find you.

Before you get too self-righteous about the mess this poor client was in, I challenge you to go look at your site and profiles right now!  You may find the same confusion!
