Facebook

If you manage a Facebook Group, you need to be sure you are gathering emails from that group! Facebook owns the group. You own the emails! And having emails open so many marketing doors for you. Here are detailed instructions from Social Media Examiner on how to gather emails from a group.

Facebook Reality

This snippet is from an article from Social Media Examiner about gathering emails from your Facebook Group. Good article! I’ll share it with you shortly. But what I want you to read today in the info here about Facebook – what they own, who they are, how they operate.

“Facebook groups can be an awesome way to share content, engage with your followers, and build your brand. They’re also powerful tools for growing your email list. When running a group is part of your marketing strategy, getting email leads from your group is important for several reasons, the most critical being that you don’t own your Facebook group. Facebook does.

Relying solely on a Facebook group for interacting with members is risky because Facebook can ban your account or shut down your group anytime. Although Facebook doesn’t ban groups or accounts often, a more likely risk is that Facebook could throttle your group’s organic reach. Many group owners (myself included) have noticed Facebook favoring paid traffic over groups’ organic reach.

With these risks in mind, I suggest you plan your audience growth around the worst-case scenario and focus on growing something you own. When you collect email addresses to build your list, you own that list.”

Please keep this reality in mind when you plan your marketing strategy and the phases of it that relate to Facebook. Always know your risks! Facebook is too big to ignore. But you can control your use of their software and their ownership of your data.

Email Marketing

Here is a great example of how to waste your email time and money. The From is “service.” Who the heck is that? Looks like spam so I’m not opening it. The Subject line is “dry cleaning coupon.” I don’t need a coupon today and it’s Monday morning. Delete!! The opening line (which I can see in my preview) is “Dear Valued Customer.” Yeah. I’m so valued that I’m anonymous. And let’s go one more. I have never done business with this dry cleaner; I have no clue how they got my email address so I am not happy about that. They probably bought an email list somewhere. But I have no interest in their product so the email is a total waste. They’ve only irritated me. If I should need a dry cleaner soon, do you think I’ll go to them?

Social Media Influencer

The use of Influencers in social media is growing. What is that you ask? An Influencer is someone who has their own social media network. You connect with them to get recommendations. So the Image Consultant connects to the Premier Jewelry consultant and the cabi consultant. Her reach is extended. She gets instant credibility from the people who trust the other two consultants. Influencers with large followings can be paid or compensated in some way for their posts. Who could be an Influencer for your business?

Don’t Get Scammed!

I had another client get scammed last week by the “Microsoft noticed that your computer has a virus and we want to help” message that commandeers your computer.

MICROSOFT NEVER EVER CONTACTS YOU ABOUT A VIRUS OR PROBLEM
WITH YOUR COMPUTER! NEVER.

Do not call the number given in the message! Do not let unknown persons remotely access your computer. Do not give unknown persons your credit card info.

If you are ever in doubt, call me or text me at 480-433-9995 for help.

Or take these steps to get out of the lock.

Try to close your browser completely.

If that doesn’t work, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to open your Task Manager and force the browser to close.
If that doesn’t work, power off the computer. Hold the power button down several seconds until it forces a shut down.

Unplug your modem. Then restart the computer. If the message shows up again, try to close it again. There is no Internet connection so it can’t do any harm at this point.

Shut down the computer again. Re-plug the modem. Turn on the computer. Open your browser.
If you see the message again, call one of my hardware referrals. Let them clean up the problem.
If you don’t see the message, say a gratitude prayer!
